Earlier this month, Xbox debuted the “Halo 3: ODST” live-action short and it proved immensely popular with fans. Microsoft has kindly let Electro-candy bring you a four and a half minute mini-documentary that will take you behind the scenes for an inside look at the making of the live action trailer.
The video features interviews with some of the creative forces who helped craft the trailer, including Alan Scott of Legacy Effects and Ryan Crosby of Microsoft Game Studios. The video takes viewers on location to the exotic, industrial sites where the short was filmed, including a cooling tower of an active nuclear power plant and a Hungarian strip mine.
As a special treat, the video also features an action sequence that was cut from the final version of short.
For the production of the “Halo 3: ODST” live-action short, Xbox and Bungie partnered with ad agency TAG SF, Legacy Effects (props), Asylum (visual effects) and Final Cut (editing). The short features an original musical score written and produced by Human. The short was directed by Rupert Sanders with MJZ, the director of the award-winning “Halo 3” ad spot “Believe.” The short was filmed on location in Budapest, Hungary.
